S E T - U P
- you need premiere pro and media encoder (same version of both!)
- you can use topaz to increase the quality of videos
- How to install: Download crack, extract (password: 124) and install, do not launch after install!, replace C:\Program Files\Topaz Labs LLC\Topaz Gigapixel AI\network.dll with the crack, run token.reg
Source Files:
- download scenepacks & audios from any site (youtube, tiktok, ...) with cobalt.tools
- if source file is h.265 (hvec) format: convert it to h.264 (avc) (mp4) with the software handbrake (also choose the english audio track), then just use those to edit. (they don't have to be .mp4 after converting, but their file size should be smaller)
Plugins:
- Sapphire (for many, many effects)
- How to install: Download crack and install ("Complete installation without entering license"), Replace sapphire_ae.dll in C:\Program Files\BorisFX\Sapphire 2022 Adobe\lib64 and add GenArts folder into C:\ProgramData ( NOT C:\Programme )
- Twixtor (for slow-mo)
Panels:
- Effect Controls
- Lumetri Color
- Effects
- Timelines
- Tools
- (for clip collecting) Source (open by double-click on clip)

frame rate ("timebase"):
- 24, 30 or 60 frames per second
- 30 is best choice for most things
- 60 is smoothest, but might look weird if the source material is less, which it usually is.
sequence size:
- 1920x1080 (16:9) (widescreen)
- 1280x720 (16:9) (widescreen 720p)
- 1080x1920 (9:16) (phone size)
- 1080x1440 (3:4)
- 1080x1080 (1:1)
T I P S
- ! automatically cut clips: right-click clip » Scene Edit Detection » Apply a cut at each detected cut point (or Marker)
- (requires Premiere Pro 14.4.0)
- troubleshooting: restart premiere pro; make sure audio is attached; make sure clip isn't too long
- ! always make sure the correct (and at least one video and audio) track is selected
- timeline gone? open the project, go to the "project:" panel, and double click the one with the timeline icon. (you can also rename it here). that opens the timeline again. if there is none, create a new "sequence" in that panel.
- match frame: ("f" key or sequence » match frame ), goes to the source file at that time. you can drag out the audio and video from there
- match video size: select clip(s), then Clip » Video Options » Set to Frame Size
- or right-clip clip, then set to frame size (not(!) scale!)
- clearing in+out points in timeline markers » clear in and out
- neutralizing audio (so that everything is the same volume): select all clips » right-click » "Audio Gain" » Normalize All Peaks to -5 / -10 dB
- Close all gaps: select all clips » Sequence » "Close Gap"
- or right click a clip:ripple delete , which deletes the clip and moves it to the left
- Same effects on multiple clips:
- create adjustment layer (project panel » "new" icon » Adjustment Layer) that spans over whole video, apply effects to that layer instead of individual clips
- effects in the effect controls panel can be copied and pasted to other clips, or saved as a preset
- Can't drag clips into timeline? Make sure at least one video track is selected (click on the left side of the lock icon)
Preview Laggy?
- set preview quality to 1/4 (for playback and pause) and disable high-quality (in context menu)
- use the fx mute button to disable effects
- render areas that are done ( sequence » render in to out )
Proxies:
- (requires adobe media encoder to be installed)
- edit » preferences » media » enable proxies
- Proxies are enabled when the "Toggle Proxies" button is blue.
- right click on the source file in the project tab » proxy » create proxy (choose format quicktime and custom ingest prest) » ok » (media encoder will open and do it, might take a while)
How to make custom preset for Proxy (in case the default squishes it): Act as if you're exporting the video, choose "Quicktime" and the resolution that you want (should be same aspect ratio as the real file but smaller). Match Frame Rate! Save that preset. Open Media Encoder, Create a new Ingest Preset, check "Transcode files to Destination", choose a folder and "Quicktime" and the preset you created earlier. Then right-click on the preset you just created and export it somewhere. Then, when creating proxies, choose "QuickTime" and your ingest preset (The first time you have to add it). (Tutorial)
Always check if Proxy has same Frame Rate as Original File. (= When you toggle proxies on/off only the Quality should change, not the frame!)

Sharpening
- sharpen (~20) (effects » blur & sharpen » sharpen)
- unsharp mask (amount ~50) (radius ~50-250) (effects » blur & sharpen » unsharp mask)
Time Remapping ("Twixtering")
- 1. select all clips and right click » clip speed/duration. choose optional flow
- 2. right-click on small green 'fx' box on top left of clip, choose time remapping » speed . a line for the speed appears.
- 3. click once to set a keyframe. click and drag the right side of the point.
- 4. click and pull the speed bar low (to 20% or lower)
- 5. render the timeline to preview
- 6. right-click the clips individually and nest . (so that effects aren't effected by time remapping)
