how do I define history? it's just one fucking thing after another

honeybee follows:
ivyink political
Michelle observations (best moments, 2020)
The Girl in t... books (Cookbooks and Food)
books (Non-Fiction: Politics )
blu television (watched in 2020)

the good

  • I love Sirius and Remus's friendship
  • Arthur Weasley is the dad I wish I had
  • Hagrid is my favourite
  • Draco being turned into a ferret is possibly my favourite moment
  • 'call me Snuffles'
  • favourite characters (who are not the main three)
    • Sirius Black
    • Remus Lupin
    • Hagrid
    • Arthur Weasley
    • Molly Weasley
    • Cedric Diggory
      • I really, really love Cedric & I am not okay
    • Lavender Brown
    • Viktor Krum, weirdly

the bad

  • a lot of hyperbole and "everybody clapped" moments; this is where the tumblr narrative style comes from.
  • I hate Dumbledore's character arc
  • Snape could have been a great antihero
    • seriously, so great. we could have had a cantankerous, moody young teacher who acts as quiet (sometimes begrudging) guardian to his old school friend's son and is often mistakenly framed by said son as the villain. sometimes he almost is that character, but no, he's just a nasty, odious shit.
  • Alan Rickman and Tom Felton are the only reasons people like their characters
  • Colin and Dennis are weird names for children in the 90s
  • 'My own brother, Aberforth, was prosecuted for practising inappropriate charms on a goat'

the ugly

  • JK Rowling is a fatphobe. the way she treated Dudley's weight is really distressing
  • having to spend this whole experience pretending terf and general human shit-fest didn't bring these stories into existence

user picture maré: "Alan Rickman and Tom Felton are the only reasons people like their characters" so true, they're awful! I really can't like Snape even with everything he's done (and suffered, in the past). mar 28 2020
user picture maré: I don't know if my last sentence is correct, please correct me if it's not.
user picture honeybee: Your last sentence is totally correct as far as I'm concerned! I really think Snape could have been a great character and a really fun antihero, but he's unlikable from start to finish and it's a shame. The same goes for Draco.
user picture Venus: She's also a transphobe, so that's lovely. mar 29 2020
user picture honeybee: I know, it’s awful. I don’t have that on here since these are my reactions to the books, but I loathe the way she’s behaved about a lot of things mar 30 2020
