Symptom Management: Eat regular meals and don't skip breakfast to empty bile frequently. Switch to smaller, more frequent meals if large ones cause discomfort. If fat triggers symptoms, choose foods under 3g fat per 100g, trim visible fat, and steam, boil, poach, or grill instead of frying.
Recommended Diet:
- Fruits & Vegetables: Any fresh, frozen, or canned varieties.
- Starchy Carbohydrates: Wholegrain bread, brown rice, wholewheat pasta, and potatoes (preferably with skin).
- Proteins: Beans, pulses, lentils, tofu, fish, eggs, and lean meats/poultry (with skin and fat removed).
- Dairy & Alternatives: Skimmed or semi-skimmed milk, low-fat yogurt, and reduced-fat cheeses.
- Fats & Oils: Small amounts of unsaturated oils (vegetable, olive, sunflower) and low-fat spreads or oil sprays.
- Low-Fat Foods (if fat triggers symptoms): Foods labelled "low fat," "light," or "diet," or containing less than 3g total fat per 100g.
- Fluids: Water and non-alcoholic drinks, preferably with less sugar and fat (6–8 glasses daily).
